What is EU Cookie Law?

“EU Cookie Law” is an informal name for the rules governing cookies and similar device technologies in the European Union.

The main cookie-specific rule comes from Article 5(3) of the ePrivacy Directive, which covers storing information on or accessing information from a user’s device. GDPR applies alongside it when personal data is processed and supplies the standard for valid consent where consent is required. ePrivacy Directive on EUR-Lex
