How does cookie consent work?

Cookie consent connects a visitor’s decision with the technologies running on a website.

The typical flow is:

Cookie banner → CMP → user choice → scripts and tags → consent record → preference center

The banner presents the choice, the consent management platform interprets it, and the technical controls allow or restrict the relevant trackers. The decision can then be stored so it is respected on later pages and changed when the user updates their preferences.
