How much notice do I need to give for a change in privacy policy?

There is no universal notice period, such as 14 or 30 days. Timing depends on applicable law, the significance of the change, and any notice commitments you have made.

For significant changes, explain what is changing, when it takes effect, and any available choices through an appropriate channel, such as email or an in-app notice. Under GDPR transparency requirements, information about a new processing purpose must be provided before that further processing begins.

Updating the page alone may be insufficient. If a new activity requires renewing user consent, obtain it before starting that activity. Notice does not automatically authorize broader uses of previously collected data; the FTC’s guidance on policy changes highlights this risk.
