Why does Google keep asking for consent?

Google or a website’s consent banner may ask for consent again when a previous consent choice is no longer available or valid. As explained in Google’s cookie documentation, cookies can help websites remember preferences.

Repeated consent prompts can occur when:

  • Cookies or site data are cleared manually or automatically.

  • You start a new private browsing session.

  • You switch browsers, profiles, or devices.

  • Browser settings or extensions prevent consent information from being stored.

  • The stored consent information expires or is reset.

Check whether your browser deletes site data on exit or prevents the website from storing consent preferences.

If a consent banner repeatedly appears on another website, the issue may also be related to the website’s consent management platform or configuration. Use its preference controls to change or withdraw your cookie choices.

Google Consent Mode itself does not display consent banners. It communicates the consent choices collected by the website to Google.
