Google Consent Mode
How to implement Google Consent Mode v2 with Google Tag Manager?
A common approach is to use your consent management platform’s GTM template:
Add the CMP template from the Community Template Gallery and enter the configuration details supplied by your provider.
Set defaults for ad_storage, analytics_storage, ad_user_data, and ad_personalization. Use denied where prior permission is required.
Assign Consent Initialization – All Pages to the consent-management tag.
Confirm that banner choices update the corresponding consent values and that saved preferences are reapplied.
Configure tag behavior for your chosen Basic or Advanced implementation. Apply separate consent checks to other tags where needed.
Preview the container, test acceptance, rejection, and custom preferences, then publish.
Follow your CMP’s installation instructions to avoid duplicate scripts. Google’s GTM consent documentation explains the trigger and consent checks; defaults alone do not complete the integration.
