Google Consent Mode
How do I turn off Google Consent Mode?
You can turn off Google Consent Mode by disabling the integration that sends consent settings to Google. The method depends on how it was installed:
Through a consent management platform: Disable its Google Consent Mode integration.
Through Google Tag Manager: Review the consent template or tags responsible for setting and updating consent, then disable the integration without removing unrelated banner functionality.
Through custom code: Remove the Consent Mode default and update commands, together with any associated integration code.
Check for duplicate implementations before publishing. Disabling one integration will not fully remove Consent Mode if another plugin, script, or container still sends consent commands.
Removing Consent Mode does not automatically stop Google tags from collecting data. Setting consent values to denied also does not turn Consent Mode off; it keeps the feature active and communicates a refusal. If your aim is to prevent Google requests before consent, consider Basic Consent Mode. If you want to stop Google measurement entirely, disable the relevant Analytics and advertising tags.
After making changes, test the banner, tag behavior, and network requests. Keep any required consent controls in place, and consider how removing consent signals may affect advertising measurement, personalization, or remarketing features.
