Does Google Consent Mode control third-party tracking pixels?

Google Consent Mode does not automatically control every third-party tracking pixel or script. Tools such as Meta Pixel may require their own consent configuration or blocking rules through your CMP or tag management setup.

In Google Tag Manager, you can:

  • Use a tag template with built-in consent checks defined by the template.

  • Configure Additional Consent Checks for tags that require specific consent types.

  • Use your CMP’s blocking controls for scripts that are not managed through GTM.

Test each third-party tool when permission is granted, denied, and withdrawn to verify that it behaves as intended. A tag firing successfully does not by itself prove that its consent handling is correctly configured.

Automatic script blocking and Google Consent Mode address related consent-management needs, but enabling one does not guarantee that all tracking technologies on a website are covered.

Google Consent Mode primarily controls the behavior of supported Google tags. Third-party pixels and scripts require their own appropriate consent controls.
